The
Lamar Amateur Radio Club calls Lamar Park (Greater Hattiesburg area) in Lamar County, Mississippi homebase.
Members come from all over southern Mississippi and more! The club meets the
3rd Tuesday of every month at the Lamar Park Voting Precinct Building located
in the Lamar Park community (West Hattiesburg area). (See
the map section for location details.)
The club meets to allow area amateur radio operators (hams) to get to know each other in person as well as to present informal presentations on everything from equipment to antennas to weather. A more formal education process also takes place to inform members about emergency radio services, message handling, and changes in the FCC government rules and regulations as they apply to amateur radio day to day activities.
As part of local communications, the club maintains repeaters for both voice and digital data transmission. Repeaters are operated as open repeaters, and all licensed amateurs are welcome to use them as long as they follow FCC rules and good operating practices.
The Lamar Amateur Radio Club membership is open to amateur radio operators and to those individuals who want to become a licensed operator. To learn more drop us an email: KE5JJC (at) arrl.net
